Vigne Irpine, established in 1999 in the village of Taverna della Figura, Santa Paolina, Campania, is renowned for producing wines that embody the rich heritage of the region. Their Falanghina Spumante Extra Dry is crafted exclusively from the indigenous Falanghina grape variety, reflecting the winery's commitment to quality and tradition.

The vineyards are situated in the heart of Irpinia, characterised by calcareous and clayey soils. The region's favourable microclimate, combined with the use of the Charmat method—where secondary fermentation occurs in autoclaves over three months—results in a sparkling wine that captures the essence of its terroir.

Appearance: In the glass, the wine presents a pale straw-yellow hue with brilliant golden highlights, indicating its freshness and vibrancy. A fine, continuous perlage rises elegantly through the glass, creating a delicate and persistent mousse. The clarity and brilliance reflect the meticulous vinification process, while the smooth movement of the bubbles suggests a refined texture and excellent balance.

Aroma: The nose is greeted with intense fruity aromas, featuring crisp green apple, juicy pear, and ripe citrus notes of lemon zest and grapefruit. Floral hints of white acacia and orange blossom lend an elegant, aromatic lift, while subtle undertones of toasted almonds and hazelnuts add depth. A gentle hint of wet stone and saline minerality reflects the volcanic soils of Campania, enhancing the wine’s complexity.

Taste: On the palate, it is harmonious and layered, showcasing a beautiful interplay of fruitiness, minerality, and lively acidity. Flavours of golden apple, white peach, and lime zest are complemented by delicate brioche notes, adding a touch of sophistication. The fine, persistent bubbles enhance its crispness, leading to a refined and balanced mouthfeel.

Finish: The finish is long, clean, and invigorating, with lingering notes of citrus, green herbs, and a subtle saline quality, evoking the essence of a Mediterranean sea breeze. A final touch of mineral flintiness and a whisper of honeyed almonds provide depth and elegance, leaving a lasting impression of freshness and finesse.

Food Pairing: The Falanghina Spumante Extra Dry pairs exceptionally well with seafood appetizers, such as oysters or grilled prawns, where its bright acidity complements the briny freshness of the dish. It also complements light salads with citrus dressings and creamy cheeses like burrata, highlighting the wine’s crisp and mineral-driven profile. Serving at a temperature of 6°-8°C is recommended to fully appreciate its vibrant flavours and elegant bubbles.

The Falanghina Spumante Extra Dry exemplifies Vigne Irpine's dedication to crafting wines that capture the essence of Campania's terroir, offering a distinctive and pleasurable tasting experience.
