James Edwards Gewürztraminer 2022

Regular price $26.00

Hunter Valley winemaker James Turpie fell in love with the Gewürztraminer grape after working in Central Otago.

His cool-climate styles are known for being clean, approachable and easy drinking – with as little intervention as possible. Unfined with minimal sulphur, this 2022 is a highly quaffable and refreshing gewurtz. Keeping true to the variety, it's full of tropical aromatics – lychee, Turkish delight, lavender, vanilla – and balanced acidity that gives the wine plenty of length and vibrancy.

Gewürztraminer is known as a kind of "grown up Moscato" or alternative to a Riesling, and we love seeing more of you trying it in the bar. It’s a very aromatic and intense varietal that smells sweet, but is actually (mostly) dry.

Gewürz pairs well with strong flavours, and is our pick when we go to a BYO Indian or Turkish restaurant because it complements rather than competes with intense spices.

Only 40 cases of this wine were produced, so be sure to snag yourself a bottle before it's gone.

Tasting notes from our sommeliers:

A clean, varietal expression with lychees, rosewater, lavender oil, and a touch of spice.
