Kaesler Wines, a renowned Barossa Valley estate founded in 1893, is famed for its powerful yet elegant Shiraz wines sourced from extraordinary old-vine vineyards. Deeply committed to sustainable vineyard practices and minimal-intervention winemaking, Kaesler’s flagship wines showcase bold, expressive Barossa character. "The Bogan" Shiraz, affectionately named as a tongue-in-cheek tribute to classic Aussie spirit, consistently delivers a rich, robust, and beautifully structured expression of Shiraz. The superb 2021 vintage exemplifies the intensity, complexity, and balance that Barossa Shiraz is celebrated for.

Fruit for The Bogan Shiraz comes exclusively from Kaesler’s ancient, low-yielding vineyards featuring deep sandy loam soils layered over clay. These old vines naturally produce concentrated fruit, resulting in wines of impressive depth, complexity, and structured tannins. Meticulously hand-picked grapes are gently fermented and aged for approximately 15 months in carefully selected French oak barrels, integrating beautifully with the wine’s bold fruit character, enhancing complexity and finesse.

Appearance: Deep, inky purple-red colour with vibrant crimson highlights, demonstrating youthful vibrancy and exceptional density. Rich viscosity coats the glass, creating slow-moving, luxurious tears indicative of its substantial body.

Aroma: Opulent, expressive aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and plum compote harmoniously intermingle with nuances of mocha, dark chocolate, and exotic spices. Subtle hints of liquorice, vanilla bean, cedar, and gentle earthy undertones further enhance aromatic complexity.

Taste: Richly textured palate showcasing concentrated, powerful flavours of blackberry, plum, and dark cherry, beautifully complemented by notes of chocolate, mocha, sweet spices, and liquorice. Firm yet velvety tannins and vibrant acidity provide impeccable balance, structure, and refinement.

Finish: Exceptionally long, polished finish, leaving persistent impressions of ripe dark fruits, chocolate, spice, and subtle mineral nuances. Its robust yet refined tannins fade gently, highlighting its remarkable ageing potential and elegance.

Food Pairing: Magnificent paired with chargrilled ribeye steak served with creamy peppercorn sauce, slow-cooked beef short ribs with a rich reduction, or hearty lamb dishes seasoned with Mediterranean herbs.
