Eloquesta Winter's Harvest Shiraz 2018
Eloquesta Winter’s Harvest Shiraz 2018 is a distinctive, late-harvest take on cool-climate NSW Shiraz—built around naturally concentrated fruit, long maceration, and patient élevage. Crafted by owner-winemaker Stuart Olsen, it’s lavish in flavour yet surprisingly poised, with refined tannins and a smooth, unforced length that feels both indulgent and beautifully composed.
Appearance:
Deep garnet to opaque plum with a vivid purple hue at the rim and slow, staining legs.
Aroma:
Red and purple fruit compote—plum, cherry and blackberry—layered with blackcurrant syrup, plum pudding, floral pipe tobacco, and a biscuit-like sweetness, finishing with a gentle, warming oak spice.
Taste:
Concentrated and plush on entry: dark berries, ripe plum and dusty cherry, unfolding into fruit leather, cocoa, and subtle baking spice. Despite the late-harvest richness, the palate holds its line with bright acidity and finely polished tannins, giving a smooth, elegant structure with no hard edges.
Finish:
Long, stylish and lingering—dark fruit, spice and a faint savoury tobacco note taper into a refined, gently drying close.
Food Pairing:
Well-seasoned ribeye, peppered kangaroo, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, BBQ brisket, blue cheese, or rum-and-raisin chocolate desserts.
