Aurelio Settimo is a family-run winery in La Morra, Piemonte, dedicated to producing wines that showcase the purity and elegance of Nebbiolo. Their Langhe Nebbiolo 2020 is an expressive and approachable take on this noble variety, offering the floral and red fruit characteristics of Barolo but in a fresher, more immediate style. Sourced from vineyards with limestone-rich soils, this wine is aged primarily in stainless steel to preserve its bright acidity and vibrant fruit profile, making it an excellent introduction to the estate’s traditional winemaking philosophy.

Appearance: Bright ruby red with delicate garnet reflections, highlighting its youthful vibrancy. The wine is translucent yet deeply coloured, with a slight sheen that suggests freshness and purity. Swirling reveals well-defined, quick-moving legs, hinting at its lively acidity and elegant structure.

Aroma: Fresh and inviting, with aromas of wild strawberries, red cherries, and rose petals. Subtle hints of violets and orange zest add brightness, while delicate earthy undertones of dried herbs and crushed leaves provide complexity. As the wine opens, faint notes of liquorice and white pepper emerge, enhancing its aromatic finesse.

Taste: Silky and well-balanced, with juicy red fruit flavours of sour cherry, raspberry, and cranberry. The vibrant acidity keeps the palate fresh and lively, while soft, well-integrated tannins add structure without being overpowering. Mid-palate notes of dried thyme, anise, and a slight mineral edge add depth, creating a refined and elegant drinking experience.

Finish: Clean and refreshing, with lingering red fruit, floral notes, and a hint of spice.
