Castel Giocondo Brunello di Montalcino 2016
CastelGiocondo’s Brunello di Montalcino 2016 is a classic, estate-grown expression of Sangiovese from Frescobaldi’s historic Montalcino property—polished, structured, and built around the balance and longevity that made 2016 such a benchmark-style vintage in the zone.
Appearance:
Deep ruby with garnet edges beginning to show; bright and concentrated.
Aroma:
Ripe sour cherry and plum, dried rose and violets, sweet tobacco, cedar, and balsamic notes, with hints of orange peel, anise, and crushed stone.
Taste:
Full-bodied and finely chiselled. Succulent red cherry and dark berry fruit sit over savoury layers—tobacco leaf, tea, and earthy spice—while firm, ripe tannins frame the palate. Acidity is lively and traditional, keeping the wine lifted and precise rather than heavy.
Finish:
Long, persistent and balsamic—cherry skin, spice, and a lingering, dusty-mineral grip.
Food Pairing:
Bistecca alla fiorentina, slow-braised beef or lamb, wild boar ragù, porcini dishes, aged pecorino, or truffle-accented pasta.
