Bodegas Roda have taken their flagship Rioja and decided to make more singularly focused wines by creating their ‘Red Note’ and ‘Blue Note’ wines.

The ‘Red Note’ is from parcels of fruit that exhibit a more red fruited, perfumed and spice character. It's quite intense, with lots of ripe cherry. Earthen, mineral with classic Rioja tannin, this is an elegant and pretty expression of the region.

Quite a forwarded thinking wine, and a great way to showcase the unique nuances of individual parcels of fruit.

Roda is grown from vines between 35-100 years' age, all dry grown 'en-vaso'. Hand picked, hand everything, it is fermented in open foudre, gravity decanted to age 15 months in new and 1yo French barrique, then gravity-decanted again for bottling (unfiltered, unfined) and cellar ageing before release. The garnacha component of Roda's wines comes from separate vineyards in Rioja Baja, at Tuldelilla and Alcanadre..

Tasting notes from our sommeliers:

A more earthy, red fruited expression of Rioja, compared to its Blue Note sibling.
