Cortonesi Poggiarelli Brunello di Montalcino 2015

Cortonesi Poggiarelli Brunello di Montalcino 2015 is a mature, powerful Sangiovese from a highly regarded Montalcino vintage, combining ripe red and dark fruit with savoury herbs, tobacco and earthy complexity. With bottle age, the wine has developed greater tertiary depth while retaining the acidity and tannic structure that give Brunello its longevity.

Appearance:

Deep garnet red with brick-toned highlights and a mature, translucent rim.

Aroma:

Layered aromas of dried cherry, red plum and blackberry are complemented by rose petal, tobacco and dried Mediterranean herbs. Notes of leather, cedar and earthy spice add further complexity.

Taste:

Full-bodied and structured, with sour cherry, plum and dark berry fruit supported by fresh acidity and firm, increasingly resolved tannins. Savoury herbs, tobacco, liquorice and earthy notes give the palate depth and maturity.

Finish:

Long, complex and persistent, with lingering red fruit, dried florals, tobacco and fine savoury tannins.

Food Pairing:

Excellent with braised beef, roast lamb, wild boar ragù, truffle risotto, mushroom dishes or aged Pecorino.
