Cuna de Piedra Reserve Chardonnay 2021
Cuna de Piedra Reserve Chardonnay 2021 (Los Cerros de San Juan) is a distinctly Uruguayan take on Chardonnay—fresh, citrus-led and shaped by time in oak to add volume and gentle warmth rather than heaviness. Guided by the estate’s winemaking team (with high-level consultancy shaping the house style), it’s a polished “reserve” expression: bright fruit up front, creamy texture through the middle, and a long, savoury finish.
Appearance:
Clear, luminous straw with green and pale-gold edges; glossy and youthful, hinting at both freshness and subtle oak influence.
Aroma:
Citrus blossom, lemon peel and ripe pear, followed by banana and a soft tropical whisper. Underneath sits vanilla and light toast from oak, with a faint honeyed nuance that reads as richness, not sweetness.
Taste:
Dry, fresh and nicely textured. Zesty citrus and orchard fruit lead, then broaden into a creamy, gently “unctuous” mid-palate with vanilla and toasted oak spice. Natural acidity keeps the wine lifted and clean, while a light phenolic grip adds shape and poise.
Finish:
Long and persistent—citrus and stone-fruit skin linger alongside a mellow toasted note, finishing clean, savoury and mouthwatering.
Food Pairing:
Grilled prawns with lemon butter, roast chicken with thyme, creamy mushroom pasta, corn fritters, crab cakes, or semi-firm cheeses like gouda.
