DJP ‘Pétalos’ Mencía 2023 is a benchmark Bierzo red crafted by Descendientes de J. Palacios, the project founded by Álvaro Palacios and Ricardo Pérez Palacios. Sourced from old-vine Mencía grown on steep hillside vineyards, this wine captures the variety’s hallmark combination of vibrant fruit, floral lift, minerality, and elegance, offering exceptional value and regional character.

Appearance:

Deep ruby with vibrant violet highlights. Bright and youthful with excellent clarity.

Aroma:

Expressive aromas of raspberry, black cherry, wild berries, and crushed violets. Subtle notes of fresh herbs, graphite, liquorice, and gentle spice add complexity.

Taste:

Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, showing layers of juicy red and dark fruits supported by fine-grained tannins. Fresh acidity brings energy, while mineral and savoury nuances provide depth and structure.

Finish:

Long, polished, and persistent, with lingering berry fruit, floral notes, and a subtle earthy minerality.
