Gentle Folk Monomeith Pinot Noir 2024
Gentle Folk’s Monomeith Pinot Noir 2024 is a more site-specific, “step-up” Adelaide Hills Pinot from Gareth & Rainbo Belton—typically finer-boned and more detailed than the broader regional blend, with extra mineral tension and a slightly more savoury, structured shape. Expect perfume and precision first, then quiet depth as it opens in the glass.
Appearance:
Bright ruby to crimson with a clear, luminous core and a delicate, youthful rim.
Aroma:
Wild strawberry, sour cherry and red plum, lifted by rose petal and blood orange. Underneath: black tea, forest floor, subtle whole-bunch-like herbal spice, and a stony, flinty note that reads as cool-site freshness.
Taste:
Dry, finely layered and poised—cranberry and cherry skin brightness at the front, then a savoury mid-palate of tea leaf, spice and gentle earth. Acidity is crisp and energising, carrying the fruit cleanly, while tannins are fine and powdery, giving a slightly more serious, cellar-friendly frame.
Finish:
Long, mineral and quietly grippy, tapering through red fruit, dried herbs and a lingering earthy-saline nuance.
Food Pairing:
Duck breast, roast chicken with thyme, pork with fennel, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, or lentils with roasted beetroot and herbs.
