The Giuseppe Quintarelli estate, founded in 1924, is a benchmark for Amarone and Valpolicella wines. Giuseppe Quintarelli, who took over in the 1950s, became a legend in the region and the around the world, known for his dedication to quality and traditional methods. His focus on extended aging and low yields produced wines of extraordinary complexity and elegance. Now managed by his family, the estate continues its legacy, crafting wines that reflect both tradition and innovation.

Valpolicella, situated in the Veneto region of northeastern Italy, is known for its limestone and volcanic soils, as well as the moderating climate of nearby Lake Garda. This combination creates ideal conditions for cultivating the Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes. The appassimento method, a key element in Amarone production, involves drying the grapes before fermentation to intensify flavors and aromas, a process that has been perfected in the region for centuries.

The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from Quintarelli exemplifies the estate’s meticulous winemaking. After the appassimento process, the wine is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for several years, resulting in a complex profile of dried cherries, dark plums, licorice, and spices. Velvety tannins and vibrant acidity create balance, while the wine’s depth and structure ensure excellent aging potential. This vintage has already garnered praise from critics and collectors alike, reinforcing Quintarelli’s reputation as a master of Amarone.
