Irrewarra, established by the renowned Farr family, is a boutique winery in Western Victoria’s cool-climate Otway hinterland. Founded by Nick Farr, Irrewarra is celebrated for precise, elegant wines that truly reflect their unique maritime-influenced terroir. Their Pinot Noir, crafted with meticulous care and minimal intervention, exemplifies the distinctive purity, complexity, and expressive charm typical of the region. The 2024 vintage offers a beautiful snapshot of freshness, vibrancy, and aromatic sophistication, encapsulating Irrewarra’s commitment to site-driven winemaking.

Irrewarra’s vineyards benefit from deep volcanic loams and sandy clay soils interspersed with limestone fragments, perfectly suited to Pinot Noir. The cool maritime climate ensures slow ripening, preserving vibrant acidity, expressive aromatics, and elegant tannins. Grapes are carefully hand-picked, gently fermented using indigenous yeasts, and matured thoughtfully in French oak barriques (approximately 20% new oak) to enhance complexity while preserving varietal purity and refined freshness.

Appearance: Bright, luminous ruby-red with elegant crimson highlights, demonstrating exceptional clarity and youthful vitality. Medium-bodied viscosity gently coats the glass, forming slow, graceful tears indicative of refined structure.

Aroma: Expressive, alluring aromas of fresh red cherries, raspberries, and wild strawberries, beautifully combined with delicate floral nuances of rose petals and violets. Subtle layers of forest floor, gentle spices, and earthy minerality add aromatic complexity and intrigue.

Taste: Elegantly structured palate, showcasing vibrant flavours of ripe cherry, raspberry, and delicate cranberry, harmoniously balanced with refined notes of spice, subtle black tea leaf, and gentle earthiness. Silky tannins and lively acidity provide impeccable harmony and depth.

Finish: Persistent, elegant finish, lingering with impressions of fresh red fruit, delicate spice, floral notes, and subtle mineral freshness. The refined tannins gently recede, leaving behind a graceful and sophisticated impression.

Food Pairing: Beautifully complements roasted duck breast served alongside wild mushroom risotto, or grilled Tasmanian salmon with sautéed greens and citrus-herb butter sauce.
