Scorpo Eocene Pinot Noir 2021
Scorpo’s Eocene Pinot Noir 2021 is a compelling Mornington Peninsula Pinot that leans into savoury complexity as much as fruit charm. Named for the ancient Eocene-era soils that help shape the wine’s profile, it’s made in a thoughtful, minimal-intervention style—bright, perfumed, and quietly earthy, with fine structure that rewards both immediate drinking and short- to mid-term cellaring.
Appearance:
Bright medium ruby with a translucent core and garnet-tinged rim.
Aroma:
Wild strawberry, red cherry and cranberry, layered with rose petal and subtle spice. Notes of dried herbs, tea leaf and forest floor follow, with a faint earthy/mineral undertone.
Taste:
Dry and medium-bodied, with cool-climate tension and precision. Crunchy red berries and cherry skin lead, supported by brisk acidity and fine-grained, silky tannins. Savoury layers build through the mid-palate—earth, gentle whole-bunch lift, and restrained oak spice—keeping the fruit focused and elegant.
Finish:
Long, clean and lightly savoury, lingering on red fruit, spice and a mouth-watering, earthy freshness.
Food Pairing:
Duck breast, roast chicken with thyme, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, pork loin with fennel, or semi-hard cheeses.
