Petits Detours Gamay 2022

Petits Detours is a boutique producer focused on producing expressive, terroir-driven wines from Beaujolais-inspired regions. Their approach emphasises minimal intervention, allowing the fruit to shine with clarity and vibrancy. The 2022 vintage, marked by a cool growing season, yielded bright, aromatic grapes with lively acidity and approachable tannins.

The vineyards are planted on granitic soils, which contribute minerality and finesse to the wine. Grapes were hand-harvested and gently whole-bunch pressed, with fermentation using native yeasts in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, purity of fruit, and aromatic intensity.

Appearance Bright ruby with translucent edges, displaying the wine’s light to medium body and youthful vibrancy. Slow-forming legs indicate moderate alcohol and a graceful structure.

Aroma Aromas of fresh red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry dominate, complemented by subtle floral notes of violet and rose petals. Light hints of crushed herbs and a touch of spice add complexity.

Taste The palate is fresh and lively, with juicy red fruit at the forefront. Soft tannins provide gentle structure, while bright acidity keeps the wine energetic and balanced. Mid-palate layers of cranberry and subtle earthy nuances enhance depth.
