Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Riesling Trocken 2022
Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Riesling Trocken 2022 is a distinguished dry white wine from the Pfalz region of Germany, produced by the esteemed Dr. Bürklin-Wolf estate. Established in 1597, this family-owned winery has over 400 years of history and is renowned for its commitment to quality and tradition. In 2005, the estate converted its entire 85-hectare vineyard area to biodynamic cultivation, ensuring that the diversity and depth of the terroir are perfectly mirrored in their wines.
The 2022 vintage is crafted from 100% Riesling grapes sourced from the estate's vineyards at the foothills of the Pfalz. The winemaking process involves fermenting approximately two-thirds of the juice in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, while the remainder is fermented in large neutral oak vessels to add complexity and depth.
Appearance: Pale lemon-yellow with greenish reflections, indicating its youthful freshness and vibrancy. The clarity and brightness in the glass reflect the wine’s purity, with a slight shimmer suggesting its crisp acidity and lively character.
Aroma: A full, rich bouquet of golden apples, pear, and apricot, complemented by subtle floral notes of elderflower and jasmine. Hints of lime zest, crushed slate, and wet stone add a mineral edge, while a touch of honeyed citrus brings a delicate balance between fruit and structure.
Taste: The palate is fresh and juicy, with flavours of ripe stone fruit, including white peach and apricot, intertwined with crisp green apple and a vibrant streak of lemon-lime acidity. A gentle saline minerality runs through the mid-palate, adding structure and complexity. The balance of fruit, acidity, and subtle spice creates an elegant and expressive Riesling with depth and precision.
Finish: A crisp middle leads to a long, dry finish with a hint of spice, flinty minerality, and lingering citrus zest. The vibrant acidity keeps the wine fresh and mouthwatering, leaving a clean and structured aftertaste that encourages another sip.
Food Pairing: This Riesling pairs beautifully with light Mediterranean dishes such as grilled prawns with lemon and olive oil, fresh salads with citrus dressing, and Asian finger foods like Vietnamese summer rolls or Thai green curry. Its refreshing acidity and vibrant fruit flavours also complement sushi, goat’s cheese, or lightly spiced white fish, making it a versatile choice for a range of cuisines. Best served well-chilled to highlight its crisp, refreshing character.
