Brackenwood Vineyard Barbera 2021 is a vivid, estate-grown Adelaide Hills Barbera from Damon Nagel’s biodynamic Hope Forest property in the Southern Adelaide Hills. Made in small batches on site, with indigenous yeasts and a minimal-intervention approach, it shows a darker, more savoury expression of the variety while retaining the freshness and energy that make Barbera so appealing.

Appearance:

Intense ruby red with a bright youthful core and a deep crimson edge.

Aroma:

Expressive and lifted, showing red berries, dark cherry, plum, and a touch of nutmeg, with a subtle herbal-mineral nuance adding savoury complexity.

Taste:

Juicy and medium-bodied, with dark cherry, plum, and stewed mulberries at the core. The palate is supple and smoothly textured, driven by refreshing acidity and silky tannins that give the wine both drinkability and shape.

Finish:

Persistent and savoury, tapering through red fruit, spice, and a faint tea-like mineral note with clean, appetising length.

Food Pairing:

A natural match for tomato-based pasta, wood-fired pizza, grilled sausages, roast duck, charcuterie, or eggplant dishes with herbs and olive oil.
