Kershaw, Deconstructed Kogelberg Sandstone CY76 2021
Kershaw’s Deconstructed Kogelberg Sandstone CY76 2021 is a single-vineyard, single-clone Chardonnay from Elgin, made in Richard Kershaw’s meticulous, site-driven style. This expression shows the broader, more graceful side of Chardonnay, combining floral lift, mineral tension, and layered texture with the restraint and precision that define the Deconstructed range.
Appearance:
Pale lemon-gold, bright and polished, with a refined, luminous sheen.
Aroma:
Elegant and lifted, with citrus oil, lime, lemon cream biscuit, and apple blossom, supported by subtle notes of white peach, melon, and cashew.
Taste:
Broad yet precise, with a grippy entry and brisk acidity. Orchard fruit, apricot cream, toasted almond, and a touch of oatmeal unfold through the palate, while the oak remains subtle and beautifully integrated.
Finish:
Long, mineral, and quietly savoury, tapering into salted lemon, soft nuttiness, and a gentle creamy note.
Food Pairing:
Excellent with butter-poached lobster, seared scallops, roast chicken, grilled fish, or creamy porcini risotto.
