Domaine Ghislain Kohut is a rising star in Burgundy, crafting wines that showcase both the tradition and precision of the region’s most revered vineyards. The Échezeaux Grand Cru 2021 is a stunning expression of Pinot Noir from one of the most prestigious Grand Cru sites in the Côte de Nuits. This wine captures the elegance, complexity, and depth that define Échezeaux, balancing refined structure with vibrant fruit and silky tannins.

Sourced from old vines in the Échezeaux Grand Cru vineyard, the grapes benefit from limestone-rich soils that enhance minerality and finesse. The cooler 2021 vintage resulted in wines with bright acidity, fine tannins, and exceptional aromatic complexity. Fermentation takes place with a careful balance of whole-cluster inclusion, followed by ageing in French oak barrels—some new, but with a restrained approach to preserve purity and terroir expression.

Appearance Deep ruby with a slightly translucent core, showing brilliant clarity and a vibrant, youthful sheen. The colour hints at the wine’s finesse, while its delicate viscosity suggests refined tannins and elegant structure.

Aroma Intensely aromatic and layered, with ripe red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry at the forefront. Floral notes of rose petal and violet add elegance, while earthy undertones of forest floor, truffle, and crushed stone bring depth. Subtle hints of spice, vanilla, and toasted oak provide warmth and complexity.

Taste Silky and refined, with bright acidity lifting flavours of red berries, pomegranate, and cranberry. The mid-palate reveals savoury elements of black tea, mushroom, and dried herbs, balanced by fine-grained tannins that add structure without heaviness. The oak influence is subtle, enhancing the wine’s texture while allowing the purity of fruit and minerality to shine.

Finish Exceptionally long and graceful, with lingering red fruit, delicate spice, and a touch of smoky minerality. The tannins remain polished and seamless, ensuring a refined, age-worthy finish that will continue to evolve over time.

Food Pairing Roast duck with a cherry and thyme glaze enhances the wine’s bright acidity and red fruit character, creating a harmonious pairing. Aged Comté cheese highlights its savoury depth, offering a beautiful contrast between richness and freshness
