La Petite Mort VMR Qvevri 2022
La Petite Mort VMR Qvevri 2022 is an adventurous skin-contact blend of Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne from Queensland’s high-altitude Granite Belt. Winemaker Glen Robert co-fermented the varieties in traditional Georgian qvevri, leaving the wine on skins for 205 days to develop its distinctive amber colour, savoury complexity and fine tannin structure.
Appearance:
Deep golden amber with burnished orange highlights and a gently cloudy, unfiltered appearance.
Aroma:
Fragrant notes of apricot, honeysuckle and mandarin peel unfold alongside baked apple, dried citrus, honeycomb and subtle roasted nuts.
Taste:
Rich and textural, combining ripe stone fruit and preserved orange with waxy, savoury layers of spice, dried herbs and gentle oxidative complexity. Fine skin-derived tannins provide structure, while fresh acidity maintains balance.
Finish:
Long, dry and gently grippy, with lingering citrus peel, honeyed fruit, pepper and savoury nuttiness.
Food Pairing:
Pair with fragrant Asian dishes, roast pork, Moroccan-spiced vegetables, grilled halloumi, pâté or firm, nutty cheeses.
