Staffelter Hof, established in 862 AD, is one of the world's oldest wineries, located in the Mosel Valley, Germany. The estate has been family-run since 1805, with Jan Klein currently leading the winemaking efforts. The 'Dhron Hofberger' Riesling Spätlese 2018 originates from the esteemed Dhron Hofberger vineyard, known for its steep slopes and slate soils, which impart a distinctive minerality to the wines.

The 2018 vintage experienced a warm growing season, resulting in ripe fruit with balanced acidity. Hand-harvested grapes underwent spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, followed by maturation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the wine's freshness and aromatic purity.

Appearance: Bright pale gold with greenish reflections, indicating youth and vibrancy. The wine's clarity and brilliance highlight its purity and elegant structure.

Aroma: Expressive notes of ripe apricot, peach, and quince, intertwined with floral hints of jasmine and a subtle slate-derived minerality. A delicate touch of honey and citrus zest adds further complexity.

Taste: Luscious stone fruit flavours, such as apricot and peach, are balanced by a lively acidity. The mid-palate reveals nuances of honey and a touch of citrus zest, contributing to the wine's depth and vibrancy. The residual sugar is harmoniously integrated, offering a delicate sweetness without overwhelming the palate.

Finish: Long and elegant, with lingering notes of ripe fruit and a refreshing mineral undertone that leaves a beautifully clean aftertaste.

Food Pairing:
Spicy Thai green curry with prawns, where the wine's sweetness and acidity complement the heat and aromatic spices of the dish.
Aged Gouda cheese, as the wine’s fruitiness and acidity balance the cheese’s rich, nutty flavours.
