Singlefile Single Vineyard Shiraz 2021
Singlefile Wines, based in Denmark, Western Australia, is known for producing wines that reflect the diversity and quality of the Great Southern region. The Singlefile Single Vineyard Shiraz 2021 is a perfect expression of cool-climate Shiraz, offering elegance, refinement, and complexity. Sourced from a carefully selected single vineyard, this wine reflects Singlefile’s dedication to showcasing the unique terroir of the area. The cool climate of the Great Southern region, particularly Denmark, allows for a longer growing season, producing Shiraz with balanced acidity, fine tannins, and layered flavours.
The wine was made with a combination of whole-bunch fermentation to add structure and complexity, and was matured in French oak barrels, some of which were new, adding subtle spice and texture without overpowering the fruit.
Appearance: Deep ruby red with a vibrant purple hue, indicative of its youth and concentration.
Aroma: The nose is expressive, with aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, and plums, interwoven with notes of cracked black pepper, dried herbs, and a touch of smoky oak.
Taste: Medium to full-bodied with smooth, well-integrated tannins. Flavours of dark fruit, such as blackberries and mulberries, are complemented by hints of pepper, clove, and a subtle earthy undertone. The oak influence is present but restrained, adding a touch of vanilla and spice, without overwhelming the fruit.
Finish: The finish is long and balanced, with lingering dark fruit and spice, along with a refreshing acidity that keeps the wine lively and poised.
Food Pairing: This Shiraz pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted meats, particularly lamb. The wine’s dark fruit and peppery notes enhance the flavours of grilled lamb chops, while its fine tannins complement the richness of the meat. It also pairs well with a slow-cooked beef stew, where the wine’s earthy and savoury qualities harmonise with the depth of the dish.
