Teusner 'Avatar' GMS 2022 is a vibrant and expressive blend of Grenache, Mataro, and Shiraz from the Barossa Valley. Teusner Wines, founded by Kym Teusner and Mick Page, is known for its commitment to preserving the region’s old vines and crafting wines that express the character of the Barossa. The 'Avatar' blend is one of the winery’s signature wines, showcasing the best of these three Rhône varietals. The 2022 vintage highlights the bright fruit and balanced structure that comes from careful vineyard management and minimal intervention winemaking. Aged in older oak, this wine emphasizes freshness and the purity of the fruit.

Appearance: Deep ruby red with a vibrant edge, reflecting its youthful character and concentration.

Aroma: The nose is aromatic and inviting, offering a mix of red fruits like raspberry and strawberry, along with dark plum. There are hints of dried herbs, liquorice, and spice, with an underlying earthiness from the Mataro.

Taste: Medium to full-bodied, the palate is rich and layered with flavours of juicy red and black fruits such as cherry and blackberry. The Grenache provides the bright fruit, the Mataro adds savoury and earthy notes, while the Shiraz contributes structure and spice. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, balanced by a refreshing acidity.

Finish: Long and smooth, with lingering red fruit, a touch of spice, and a savoury finish that leaves a lasting impression.

Food Pairings: This GMS blend pairs wonderfully with barbecued lamb, where its bright fruit and savoury notes complement the smoky flavours. It is also a great match with roasted vegetables, enhancing the earthy and herbaceous elements of the dish.
