Tyrrell's Sacred Sites Johnno's Shiraz 2022 is a graceful and expressive wine from one of Tyrrell’s most treasured vineyards, Johnno's, which was planted in 1908. Part of the Sacred Sites collection, this wine reflects the historic and low-yielding vines of the Hunter Valley, producing Shiraz with incredible finesse and character. Tyrrell's is known for its minimal intervention approach, allowing the vineyard's sandy soils and cool climate to be fully expressed. The 2022 vintage delivers a refined Shiraz with an emphasis on purity, balance, and depth, capturing the essence of Hunter Valley terroir.

Appearance: Medium ruby red with a bright, clear edge, indicating elegance and a lighter, restrained style.

Aroma: The nose opens with fresh red berries such as raspberry, cherry, and cranberry, complemented by earthy undertones of dried herbs, pepper, and subtle spice. There’s a touch of violets and a faint whisper of oak, adding complexity without overwhelming the fruit.

Taste: Medium-bodied with fine, smooth tannins, the palate showcases flavours of red cherry, raspberry, and blackberry, with savoury elements of pepper, dried herbs, and a touch of earthy minerality. The wine’s fresh acidity balances the ripe fruit, giving it a vibrant and clean profile with depth and nuance.

Finish: Long and refined, with lingering red fruit, soft spice, and a hint of earth, leaving a subtle, savoury finish.

Food Pairings: This Shiraz is a perfect match for grilled lamb chops, where the wine’s savoury notes and bright acidity complement the richness of the meat. It also pairs wonderfully with roasted root vegetables, allowing the wine’s earthy and herbaceous characteristics to shine alongside the natural sweetness of the vegetables.
