Domaine Guillaman Rosé de Pressée 2023
Domaine de Guillaman, a historic family-run estate in Gascony, has been producing quality wines for six generations. Known for their focus on fresh, aromatic wines, the estate offers a range of whites, rosés, and reds that embody the unique characteristics of the southwest French terroir. Their 2023 Rosé de Pressée is a vibrant and expressive wine that highlights the estate's commitment to creating refreshing, fruit-forward rosés with an emphasis on balance and drinkability.
The estate’s vineyards benefit from Gascony's temperate climate, where a mix of clay and limestone soils combined with plenty of sunshine and cool breezes from the Atlantic Ocean help preserve the grapes’ natural acidity and aromatic freshness. The rosé is made using the direct pressing method ("rosé de pressée"), which extracts delicate colour and flavour without over-extracting tannins, resulting in a crisp, refreshing style.
Appearance: Pale pink with delicate coral reflections, bright and crystal-clear in the glass.
Aroma: Fresh and fruity, with inviting aromas of red berries like strawberry and raspberry, accompanied by subtle floral notes of rose petals and a hint of citrus zest.
Taste: Light and refreshing on the palate, dominated by bright red fruit flavours such as strawberry, red currant, and watermelon. There’s a lovely crisp acidity that balances the fruitiness, with a slight herbal note adding complexity.
Finish: Clean and crisp, with a lingering hint of fresh strawberries and a gentle touch of citrus, leaving a refreshing, mouth-watering sensation.
Food Pairing: This rosé pairs wonderfully with grilled Mediterranean vegetables, where its freshness complements the smoky flavours of the vegetables while the red fruit notes enhance their natural sweetness. It’s also a perfect match for charcuterie, where its acidity cuts through the richness of cured meats, making for a balanced and satisfying pairing.
