Le Brun de Neuville is a grower Champagne house based in the Côte de Sézanne, a lesser-known but highly regarded subregion of Champagne. The estate has built a reputation for producing elegant, terroir-driven Blanc de Blancs that highlight the purity of Chardonnay from their sustainably farmed vineyards. ‘Le Chemin Emprunté’ (The Path Taken) is a refined Extra Brut Champagne, made exclusively from Chardonnay, showcasing a crisp, mineral-driven style with remarkable precision and depth.

Sourced from chalk-rich soils that contribute to the wine’s signature freshness and salinity, this cuvée undergoes extended lees ageing, enhancing its complexity and fine texture. A low dosage of Extra Brut allows the purity of fruit and terroir to shine, resulting in a Champagne of remarkable elegance and finesse.

Appearance Pale gold with a luminous brilliance and fine, persistent bubbles that form a delicate bead. The clarity and vibrancy suggest a well-crafted wine, with a subtle greenish hue at the rim hinting at its youthful energy and minerality.

Aroma Bright and expressive, with layers of citrus zest, green apple, and white peach, complemented by notes of toasted almond, brioche, and crushed oyster shell. Delicate floral nuances of acacia and honeysuckle add further refinement, while a touch of flinty minerality enhances its complexity.

Taste Taut and vibrant, with racy acidity carrying flavours of crisp pear, lemon curd, and white grapefruit. A chalky minerality underpins the mid-palate, adding depth and structure. Hints of toasted hazelnut, delicate pastry, and sea spray emerge with aeration, reflecting the wine’s extended lees ageing and terroir-driven character. The fine mousse contributes to an elegant, creamy texture that remains lively and refreshing.

Finish Long, precise, and bone-dry, leaving lingering notes of citrus zest, saline minerality, and a hint of toasted brioche. The crisp acidity and purity of fruit make this an invigorating and highly food-friendly Champagne.

Food Pairing Fresh oysters with mignonette sauce amplify the Champagne’s saline minerality and bright acidity. Delicate sole meunière with a beurre blanc sauce enhances the wine’s creamy mousse while highlighting its citrus and mineral-driven profile.
